A presentation built on feedback

The development of this particular project took place from November 2018 through February 2019. During that time, I consistently kept a small focus group of 12 individuals updated on the project's progress. During the time of production, I learned what is important to viewers of a one-minute graphical weather forecast presentation:

Forecast viewers frequently only look for one particular piece of weather information. A graphical weather forecast should deliver this information to the viewer quickly.

Current conditions and short-term forecasts should always remain visible in the presentation. There should be no wait time as these pieces of information are typically most important to the viewer.

If a severe weather event is occuring, notification must be easy to spot. After all, this information is meant to save lives.

To accomodate individuals with visual impairments, narration is important in a forecast presentation.

Forecast presentation: Day mode

The overall design is filled with low-contrasting colors, sans-serif typography, and subtle animations which make the experience on the eyes and mind as soothing as possible.

Forecast presentation: Night mode

A darker scheme to be easier on the eyes in likely lower-light situations.

Forecast presentation: Morning mode

A brighter color scheme to energize anyone's morning. It might just be a replacement of the morning coffee.

Forecast presentation: Severe mode

In severe weather situations such as tornadoes and hurricanes, a unique and ominous color scheme exists to capture the viewer's attention. To accompany the color scheme, specialized music is also played in the background to differentiate from a typical broadcast.
